Solution to DSTV Explora Red Exclamation Mark, Rebooting etc

 

 

DSTV explora decoder have been reported severally to be blinking a red/green exclamation (!) mark by many subscribers. This post will try to offers some basic troubleshooting tips on this and other issues such as “decoder not booting” etc.

Kindly try the below troubleshooting:

 

 

Press and hold the power button on the Explora’s front panel until the

reboot starts.

 

Or

  • Take out the smartcard
  • Switch off the decoder from the main plug
  • Unscrew the LNB Cables (white cables)
  • Wait for few minutes (Approximately 2-3 minutes) then
  • Screw back the LNB cables
  • Switch decoder on again and the decoder will scan.

 

DSTV decoder won’t come up

 Switch off the decoder

  • Then check that the cables coming from the satellite dish are tightly connected to the correct inputs on the back of the decoder
  • Now switch it back on again

 

 

Decoder is not receiving signal

  • Take out the smartcard
  • Switch off the decoder from the main plug
  • Unscrew the LNB Cables
  • Wait for few minutes (Approximately 2-3 minutes) then
  • Screw back the LNB cables
  • Switch decoder on again
  • Insert the smartcard into the decoder

 

 

DSTV Explora Keeps rebooting Continuously

Your Explora hard drive needs to be formatted – below are the steps you need to follow.

 

Please note that you will lose all existing recordings, and your Catch Up and BoxOffice titles will have to load again. You’ll also need to reset all your scheduled recordings.

 

 

 

DStv Explora hard drive format

Hold the POWER button on your remote down, till the front panel shows a blank screen

Then hold down the P+ button, until CODE appears on the front panel

Then press: P- (0 will appear on the front panel)

Then press P+ (01 will appear on the front panel)

Then P- again (010 will appear on the screen)

Then P+ again (0101 will appear on the screen)

A blinking HDDF will appear on the front panel of your Explora

Then press P+ to confirm (hold down for 5 seconds)

Do not interrupt the process until you see PASS displayed on the front

panel LOAD will appear on the front panel. Please wait for the process

to complete which will take a few minutes

You’ll know it is done when your pictures starts playing again
