Institutions Guilty of NYSC Mobilisation Malpractice will be Barred – NYSC

The National Youth Service Corps has reiterated its readiness to bar any Corps Producing Institution that engages in fraudulent mobilization process.

Henceforth, Corps Producing Institutions would be required to submit their yearly matriculation lists which will be electronically uploaded.

The Director-General, Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure stated this recently during the 2018 Batch “C” Pre-Mobilization Workshop held at Enugu.

Kazaure, who was represented at the workshop by the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mrs Bose Okakwu, identified several issues affecting the mobilization process which include poor data control and imputation by Corps Producing Institutions, mobilization of overage prospective Corps Members, sharp practices through the mobilization of unqualified persons among others.

“Any Corps Producing Institution found culpable of mobilisation malpractice will be barred from participating in the mobilization exercise for at least two batches”, the Director-General said.

Earlier, the Director, Corps Mobilization, Mrs Nnenna Ukonu, charged all workshop participants not only to identify the challenges associated with the mobilization process but also suggest the way forward to enhance a seamless and credible mobilization exercise.

Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi while declaring the workshop opened said the Pre-Mobilization workshop has remained a vital platform for stakeholders in the Scheme to interact and come up with strategies for credible mobilization process through the appraisal of the performances in the previous exercises.

He requested stakeholders to always meet to exchange ideas for improvement in the performance of their respective roles.

The Governor congratulated the NYSC Scheme for its numerous achievements in the socio-economic development of the country in the last 45 years of its existence.

Governor Ifeanyi, who spoke through the Chairman, NYSC State Governing Board and Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Enugu State, Hon. Joseph Udedi commended the Scheme for its immense contributions to national development through various Community Development projects.

He urged all stakeholders in the NYSC mobilization process to support the drive of the NYSC Management to achieve its goals while calling on the Management to continue to expand the frontiers of the Scheme to meet the challenges of the present times.

The Governor also promised the State Government’s readiness to identify with NYSC programmes and support the ideals for which the Scheme stands for.
