My mother chased me out of the house for piercing my ears – Bode Blaq

For the fast-rising singer, Bode Blaq, a day he would never forget in his life was his mother’s reaction when he got home with his close pal after they had both pierced their ears.

He told Saturday Beats that he expected his mother to overreact so he had already turned on his camera and true to his thoughts, his mother actually did not disappoint him. Soon after he posted the video, it became a viral sensation on the internet. “There was a video that went viral when I first got my ears pierced. My mother chased me out of the house. I turned on the camera when I got to the house because I knew that she was going to react to my piercing.

My friend pierced both his ears so he was the first to enter the house and my mother exclaimed. When she saw me, she just told me to turn back and not enter the house. She really overreacted and asked me to go back and find a way to block the piercing.  She went as far as comparing me to Falz asking me if I saw any piercing in his ear. Even Falz had to comment on the video when it trended online. The way we were brought up was to be reserved but I refused to be reserved,” he said.

The singer who identifies himself as an afro-pop artiste said that his parents had no issues with him veering into music because he comes from a musically inclined family. “My father used to sing and I have some half-sisters in Germany. One of them has featured in a newspaper in Germany because of her musical talent; she plays the violin.

The other was the second runner-up in The Voice, Germany. So I come from a musically inclined family and it was quite difficult for my parents to tell me to quit music. My genre of music is quite wide but I like putting out alternative music. I like communicating with my music and I am also good at rapping. I would say that I am more of an alternative and afro-pop singer,” he said.
