Download Real Madrid 2 – 2 Bayern Munich ( Agg 4 -3) – Highlights, All Goals

No team has overturned a 2-1 home first-leg defeat in the Champions League, in seven previous such occurrences. But Bayern have won their last four away games in the Champions League by a margin that would at least force extra time today (three 2-1s and a 3-1).

Both of these managers have won the Champions League twice as a manager – although one has taken a significantly shorter amount of time. Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has won back-to-back trophies in his two and a bit years in charge.

Bayern boss Jupp Heynckes – whose managerial career started in the 1970s – won in 1998 with today’s opponents Real and in 2013 with the Munich side.

This could be his final Champions League game as he’s being replaced by Niko Kovac this summer. But we all thought that when he retired after being replaced by Pep Guardiola directly after the 2013 success.

Team News

Karim Benzema, a substitute from the first leg, starts for Real Madrid, but Gareth Bale is again on the bench.

Mateo Kovacic and Marco Asensio also start, with Dani Carvajal and Isco injured, while Casemiro is only among the substitutes.

Cristiano Ronaldo, rested for Real’s 2-1 La Liga win over Leganes on Saturday, is included, as you would expect him to be.

Real Madrid: Navas, Lucas, Varane, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Asensio, Kovacic, Modric, Kroos, Benzema, Ronaldo. Subs: Casilla, Nacho, Bale, Casemiro, Hernandez, Borja Mayoral, Ceballos.

There are four changes to the Bayern Munich side from the first leg.

Arjen Robben, who went off with a leg injury in that match in Germany, was not included in Bayern’s squad, while Jerome Boateng could miss the World Cup because of a thigh injury picked up last week.

Rafinha and Javi Martinez also drop to the bench with Niklas Sule, Corentin Tolisso, Thiago Alcantara and David Alaba all coming into the team.

Bayern Munich: Ulreich, Kimmich, Hummels, Sule, Alaba, Tolisso, Thiago, Muller, Rodriguez, Ribery, Lewandowski. Subs: Starke, Wagner, Javi Martinez, Rafinha, Lukas, Rudy, Dorsch.
