World Cup 2018 Highlight: Croatia 2 – 0 Nigeria – #CRONGA

Croatia, 20th in the Fifa rankings, finished third in 1998 in what was their first appearance at the World Cup. That squad featured Suker, Bilic, Prosinecki (loved a cigarette in the shower), Boban, Jarni, Simic, Stimac, Tudor… and Silvio Maric – fondly remembered by Newcastle fans.

They have since failed to progress past the group stage in three attempts.

Nigeria are down in 48th, although I suspect they are a tad bit better than that. They have a habit of getting out of the group but then fall short at the last 16 stage – three out of five times, to be exact.

Four years ago they lost 2-0 to France in the first knockout stage.

The two teams have played each other a total of zero times previously.
