Over the years, our polytechnics in Nigeria have produced skilled & efficient man power that helps promote our industrial development.

Each year, thousands of undergraduates seek admission into the various polytechnics in Nigeria. They are over a hundred State, Federal and Private Polytechnics in Nigeria today, But how many of them are accredited by the NBTE?

Just as the Federal Ministry of Education established the NUC to govern university Education, they also set up the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to oversee all technical and vocational education in Nigeria.

So before you register for any programme in any polytechnic most especially private polytechnics, you should make sure that institution is accredited. You can do so by checking the list below for All Accredited Polytechnics in Nigeria.

Reviewing HND and BSc Discrimination & Polytechnic Education in Nigeria
Graduates from Technical and Vocational instituitions in Nigeria have over the years complained about the high rate of unemployment of ND & HND holders.

HND degree holders who managed to secure employment have also complained about inequality in salary grade, promotions, and all kinds of discrimination one could possibly face in the labor market. All these factors makes prospective students of polytechnics feel discouraged.

The question is, what can be done for the BSc, HND disparity to finally end in Nigeria?

After much debate, many possible solutions have been giving to help curb the dichotomy of both degrees, but sadly none have been implemented.

However, some Polytechnic graduates feel if nothing can be done, then the government should reduce the educational years of all polytechnic programmes and also UTME and Post-UME should no longer be made mandatory for prospective Polytechnic students.

ASUP STRIKE: Polytechnics in Nigeria recently witnessed one of the longest strikes in years as all State and Federal polytechnic were shut-down for about 10months. The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) ended the 10month old strike in July 2014 after the Ministry of Education met the union’s demands.
