Due to the high level of insecurity in the North Eastern part of the country, NYSC had since halted the deployment of corps members to Yobe, Borno and Adamawa and still restates its ban in these states. The Director General of NYSC Brigadier Gen. Johnson Oluwawumi reaffirmed the caution at an annual management conference in Calabar on Wednesday and made it clear that any corps member who defies the instruction given, does this at his/her risk.
“NYSC is mindful of the security situation in the country. The states where we have security challenges, we will deliberately not post corps member there. But any corps member who deliberately goes there to serve is doing so on his own volition. They do that on their own because we do not officially send corps members to those trouble states “He Said.
The Director General also said “For three years now, this states in the north east part of the country have become unsafe due to activities of Boko Haram insurgents”.
The Nation Youth Service Corp recently had its passing-out ceremony for 2013 Batch ‘B’ corps member on June 5 2014, where it distributed certificates of National Service to deserving corps members.
